How Long Will I Need Invisalign® Braces?
The amount of time the Invisalign® braces will need to be worn depends on the dental problem that needs to be corrected. Each person’s teeth are different and that means that there is no standard amount of time that the series of Invisalign® braces are to be worn. Compared with traditional braces the time is often less with this series of braces and one of the reasons for this is because the adjustments are different and there is not the need to wait six to eight weeks between adjustments. Instead with the Invisalign® system the next aligners in the series are used in approximately two weeks, this means it is like an adjustment for the person that wears traditional braces.
For many people the time that it takes to correct the alignment or the bite problem with this type of braces is between 12 to 18 months, which is usually a faster amount of time in correcting the alignment than with traditional braces. It is also not as important how long this type of braces are needed because they can be taken out when needed or during events where braces would make a person feel self conscious. Dinners out are not a problem with this type of braces or any other time it is important not to be seen with them, so the amount of time they are worn is not as important as with traditional braces. What is important is that the teeth are aligned properly and the bite is correct.
