How Are Braces Made To Fit My Teeth?

Braces are made to fit the teeth by using x-rays and a mold of the teeth, then when the braces are placed on the teeth they are held with glue that is dried with a blue high intensity plasma light. There is also a wire that runs through them that is called an arch wire that is adjusted as the teeth move to keep the braces tightened on the teeth. This is because it is the constant pressure that is placed on the teeth that keeps them moving into the proper alignment.

There are also bands that are placed at certain points on the braces that help to reinforce this pressure that will over time move the teeth into the proper alignment. This is all done with precision by the orthodontist to make the braces fit correctly so that they will move the teeth in the proper way without causing pain to the patient.

The mold that is taken of the teeth along with the x-rays make it possible for the orthodontist to ensure the braces will be placed correctly and be the proper size along with the arch wire and the placement of the bands. This is important because as the braces are worn over time the placement of the bands will be changed to place pressure on different parts of the teeth. The different points of pressure will help to move the teeth in a specific way to align them along with the tightening of the arch wires.
