How Are Damon Braces Different Than Other Braces?
Damon Braces were created by Dr. Damon and are a self-litigating brace; this means they are a low friction and low force method of moving the teeth to correct the alignment. They use a different method of moving the teeth than traditional braces, which depend on the arch wire and bands, this type of braces do not. Instead this type of braces allows the arch wire to move freely and that means less force, which translates into less discomfort and pain.
Unlike traditional braces that use bands to place pressure on the teeth to help move them into place the Damon braces use a memory wire and slide brackets this also means no friction from the bands.
These two differences mean that the braces can work faster and more efficiently with less discomfort and pain because there is not the amount of pressure applied to move the teeth into the correct alignment. They are made of materials that are 60% ceramic reinforced composite, this means it will not show wear or stains, there is also clear material and stainless steal for the brackets. This is a perfect combination of materials to do the function it needs to while at the same time being less noticeable than traditional braces.
The Damon braces also have fewer spots where tarter and bacteria can collect because there is no bands or an unmovable arch wire to hide these problems when cleaning the teeth while they are being worn.
