What Is A Crowding Bite?

The crowding bite can be also referred to as a class I malocclusion, this is a bite where the teeth are not aligned properly because they do not have enough room and are often overlapped.

The lower and upper jaw are sized the same which stops the mouth from closing properly and can be caused by a verity of reasons including heredity, or the early loss of baby teeth often due to decay. Whatever the reason that the teeth are crowded needs the alignment corrected to avoid decay of the second teeth, the improper wearing of the teeth and stress on the jaw that can result in TMJ.

This problem often requires the extraction of teeth when fitting the braces because of the size of the jaw is unable to house the amount of adult teeth. This is not uncommon with bite of this sort problem when being fitted for braces, as the teeth will need room to move into the correct alignment.

The amount of time that the braces will be on the teeth will depend on the severity of the crowding bite. The final result will be teeth that are no longer crowded that can be cleaned properly to avoid decay and no pain when closing the teeth together or chewing, the teeth will also not wear at an early age as they would when crowded. The teeth being in correct alignment rather than crowded will also change the facial appearance and avoid TMJ.
