Getting Started/ Initial Examination

Initial assessment exams are performed at a nominal charge for patients referred to our office by their general dentist. During this visit, Dr. Suzuki will discuss your treatment options (i.e. braces or Invisalign®), estimated cost & treatment time. You will also be asked to fill out a health questionnaire at this appointment.
If treatment is indicated, another appointment will be scheduled for diagnostic records (moulds, xrays and photographs) from which Dr. Suzuki will make his personalized treatment plan for you.

What are the office hours?

Our typical week is from Monday to Thursday.  On Mondays and Wednesdays, Dr. Suzuki works at his Coquitlam office from 9 AM to 4:30 PM.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Dr. Suzuki works at his Vancouver office location -- typically from 8:30AM to 4:30 PM. We occasionally are open on Fridays, but do not have weekend appointments.

How often will appointments be?

Dr. Suzuki averages 6 to 8 weeks between visits. In the beginning of treatment some patients need to be seen quite frequently, others have long (10-12 weeks) intervals between appointments. The closer to the end of treatment a patient gets the more frequent the visits tend to be. When we factor all visits together we average about 6 to 8 weeks between appointments.

How long is an average visit in the office?

Most visits are 30-45 minutes in length. Once the patient is seated the certified dental assistant (CDA) reviews the patients chart to see what is planned for the day's appointment.  The orthodontist is consulted prior to commencing the work, then the necessary procedures are performed.  Upon completion of the day's work, the doctor checks and reviews the work performed and plans when the next appointment should be. All questions the patient may have are also answered at this time. Most visits end with a review of the day's work if there is an accompanying parent.
